WENGER LAUDS WILSHERE

The manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, has lauded Jack Wilshere for putting up an impressive show against West Bromwich Albion yesterday.

Arsenal hadn’t had a great start in that game and they had gone into the half time break trailing by 0-1. But, in the 18th minute of the second half, Wilshere found the back of the net and made sure that the Gunners would not return home empty handed.

The match eventually ended in a draw and Arsenal secured 1 point to make its way back to the top of the League points table.

In the post match press conference, when Wenger was asked about Wilshere’s performance, he said, “Jack was having a few problems at the start. He was looking slightly off colour, but, he is temperamentally very good. He didn’t panic. He kept batting hard and eventually scored a vital goal for us.”

When asked about the overall performance of his team in the match, Wenger said, “I think the outcome of the match is pretty fair. Both the teams played well and deserved a point.”

“In the last 20 minutes or so, I felt we could have got that second goal, but, nevertheless, to come back from a position which we were in at one point of time, it was an incredible effort by the boys.”

Meanwhile, Wilshere himself has said that playing as a winger was not easy for him. The 21 years old midfielder said, “I have not played in that position much in the past. So, it’s not easy. It will take some getting used to. But, I am ready to do anything for team’s sake.”

Currently, Arsenal and Liverpool have the same no. of points i.e. 16 in 7 matches. But, the Gunners are at the top on the basis of goal difference.
