VERMAELEN MOVES ON

Thomas Vermaelen joined Barcelona during the summer transfer window as he made his way to the Spanish club with a transfer fee of around €19 million but the Belgian defender still has not been able to perform with his new club as he is still recovering from a hamstring injury that he sustained during the 2014 World Cup.

Barcelona is considered to be as one of the best clubs in the world and some say that even in history, but there is a weakness that the Spanish side has always been suffering and that’s in the defensive section and this is why Vermaelen was signed on August 9 of the ongoing year.

The Spanish League has already kicked off with 5 matches being played but Vermaelen has not made an appearance for Barcelona due to the hamstring injury he endured during the 2014 World Cup but the Belgian is expected to be ready and make his official league appearance with the Barcelona jersey during their upcoming match against Granada on September 27.

Thomas Vermaelen played for 63 minutes in a match for the Barcelona B team and he made a fairly impressive performance as the Belgian defender scored the opening goal of the match which concluded with a 6-0 victory over an Indonesia Under-19 XI.

Luis Suarez also performed in this match as the former star of Liverpool scored 2 goals as he is preparing himself for when his ban is over and he is finally able to perform for Barcelona at the big stage.

The arrival of an experienced defender such as: Thomas Vermaelen is expected to help solve some of the defensive issues that Barcelona has been dragging for the past few seasons.
