VAN PERSIE REVEALS TRANSFER REQUEST TO WENGER

Former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Robin van has revealed that he asked Arsene Wenger to splash the cash on Giorgio Chellini when the manager and striker were both at Arsenal.


Former Dutch striker Van Persie played under Wenger at Arsenal for eight years and was instrumental in helping the team secure the FA Cup in 2005. During the former Feyenoord man's stint at Arsenal, he could not lift the Premier League title with the London club, but he did so after joining Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

Having joined the Red Devils in 2012, Van Persie arrived as a beast ready to pounce on anyone that stood in his way trying to stop him from winning the Premier League title. He said in an interview that Arsenal l's failure to lift the trophy was because there were different problems at the club asides from defense weaknesses.
The ex-striker said he urged Wenger to sign Chiellini from Juventus back then as he would have been a proper addition and shored up the leaky defense.
36-year-old Chellini is not only considered a worthy material but also one of the most incredible defenders in the world. He is currently still playing for Juventus and Van Persie Insists that it would have been a great idea to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
Van Persie recalls when he referred Chellini as a top defender to Wenger, but the Frenchman ended up not signing him. Persie said the Italian is one of the best defenders in recent history and is a true winner.
According to the former Netherlands international striker, Attackers must score goals in football, but defenders and a goalkeeper are pivotal in winning a football match.
Van Persie was a fan's favorite at Manchester United when he joined, immediately stealing the hearts of fans and always gave his all to become a better player for the club. His major reward for the season he moved to Old Trafford was when he finally got his hands on the Premier League trophy.
The former striker said he and Wenger still talk sometimes and that they keep in touch. He added that despite some people thinking otherwise, he didn't have any issues with Wenger when he left the club for United in 2012.
