Unai Emery insists Arsenal have already decided on Aaron Ramsey’s future

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has highlighted that the future of midfielder Aaron Ramsey has already been decided many months ago. The Wales international has just six months remaining on his existing deal and reports have recently indicated that he has already agreed terms over a Bosman deal with Juventus.

Speaking in a press conference, Emery clarified that the club are unlikely to reconsider the future of Ramsey in the near future, given they have already come to terms of parting ways with the Welshman. The Spaniard added to praise Ramsey for the application on the playing field irrespective of knowing that he has no future with the Gunners beyond the summer.

Emery said: “We spoke about the circumstance with Ramsey three months ago and now the decision is finished for him and for the club. Yes, of course, his future is very important for his family but it is also very important for him to be OK to play for us like he did against Chelsea. I am very happy with him because in the last month his focus has been very clear. That is the spirit I want to see and I didn’t need to ask him because I knew he wanted to play against Chelsea and he helped us with his quality.”

“Ramsey recently featured for the Gunners during the London derby against Chelsea“where he was impressive with the task of man-marking Jorginho in the centre of the park. This pretty much reduced the Blues’ “effectiveness while ensuring that“ the Gunners romped to a comfortable 2-0 triumph in the end.

With the result, the Gunners have closed the gap to fourth-placed Chelsea to just three points and Emery will be hoping that the team can take confidence from the derby showing to propel into the Champions League places during the forthcoming months. Arsenal are scheduled to face Manchester United in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday night.
