Rob Holding insists Arsenal are not at a crisis point at the moment

Arsenal defender Rob Holding has stressed that the Gunners are not at a crisis point despite failing to win any of the previous four Premier League matches. The north London giants have dropped eight points behind the top four after the opening 12 games and there have recently been calls for Unai Emery to be sacked from the head coach role.

However, that does not appear likely to happen with the board continuing to keep their faith in the Spanish head coach and Holding believes the Gunners can turn their fortunes around during the festive schedule, he told Sky Sports News: “We just need to string a couple of wins together and I think that will lift the confidence again and hopefully set us off on a run. We just need to stay calm and stay positive. We’re sixth, we’re not a million miles off it.

“We’re going into a busy Christmas period now where there’s going to be three Premier League games a week. We’re eight points off the top four but if we have three wins in a week we’re back up within touching distance so it’s not crisis point by any stretch of the imagination. We need to keep calm, keep positive and keep working on what we need to improve on.”

Arsenal’s defence has tended to prove a weak point over the past few years and the same trend has continued this term where they have conceded 17 goals from 12 league games. Still, they have generally managed to score nearly two goals per game but that has not been the case during the current campaign where they have looked overly defensive on the road.
The style of play is somewhat justified by the club’s poor run of form on their travels over the past few years but the north London club have come to the point where they have struggled to provide any threat on the opposition goal.
