Legendary Arsenal manager Arsenal Wenger talked up the then club-record signing of Gabonese international Pierre-EmerickAubameyangwhen he joined him in North London in January 2018. Arsene Wenger was the man who gave Aubameyang his Arsenaldebut against Everton in the Premier League and he repaid his faith in him by netting a goal in his first game for the Gunners.
At the time of his move from Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal, Arsene Wenger hailed Aubameyang for two major attributes namely the quality of his finishing and the quality of his movement, but those attributes have deserved him this season.
Aubameyang has been the subject of criticism amongst the Arsenal fans in recent weeks after the Gabonese international missed several good chances to get on the scoresheet. He has not scored in his last seven games in the Premier League this season. His last goal came during the 3-1 home win over Aston Villa in the league. The Gabonese national team skipper scored from the rebound after his penalty was saved by Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta dropped Aubameyang for the first time this season in the league at Everton partly due to his poor form in front of goal and the club skipper came on in the last ten minutes as Arsenal tried to secure the three points with the scoreline at 1-1. In the end, Arsenal lost 2-1 to hosts Everton despite scoring first and Aubameyang would fluff his lines deep into stoppage with the good chance that came his way. The Arsenal captain could have rescued a point for his team.
