Wenger will Spend this Summer

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has told the Dutch press that he expects to spend heavily in the summer following yet another season without silverware for the Gunners.

Wenger is quoted in the Paris Sportifs En Ligne magazine today saying: "Due to the construction of the Emirates Stadium, for many years we could not spend a lot of money."

The Arsenal boss continued: "Our financial situation has greatly improved. We are finally able to buy the players we think we need."

"The Professor" also spoke of the likelihood of Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh joining Arsenal in the summer. "He is indeed one of the candidates and there is a good chance he will come to Arsenal next summer."
