Wengar Suggests Fatigue Is An Issue

Arsene Wenger has suggested that fatigue could be a problem for his Arsenal players as they take on Besiktas in their second match in three days. The Frenchman saw his time achieve an incredible victory over Crystal Palace during the weekend. The team needed injury time in order to get the 2-1 victory that ensure that the positivity surrounding the club was kept intact. Ahead of the buzz, there was a lot of buzz that Arsenal could end their trophy drought in the Premier League just as they did in the FA Cup last season.
Arsenal have not won the league title since 2004, but the number of new signings that they made during the summer appears to have given them a huge boost. Players like Alex Sanchez played a key role in the win over Crystal Palace, but focus turns towards the Champions League qualifiers against Besiktas. After signing players like former Chelsea star Demba Ba, the Turkish club will be confident of getting through to the group stages. Arsenal, however, represent a formidable force as the English team have consistently qualified for the group stages in the last 15 seasons.
Wenger, though, has downplayed expectations that Arsenal will be comfortable against Besiktas since he expects fatigue to play its role over the course of the 90 minutes. The second leg will be at the Emirates stadium next week.
“This is a big test. We had a short preparation and we know that in one week we have three big games: Besiktas home and away and Everton in between. Every challenge is different and beating a Turkish team away from home is very difficult but we want to perform at our best. Besiktas are on the back of a good result against Feyenoord [in the third qualifying round] but we’re on our toes and want to produce a good result,” said Wenger.
