LEAGUE GLORY

It’s not that Arsene Wenger is looking only for league glory this season. He wants the FA Cup trophy too and he knows that the kind of rhythm his boys are in at the minute, it’s very much possible.

In the 4th round of the tournament tomorrow, the Gunners will be up against Coventry City which is certainly not a side as good as them. The Sky Blues play in the third tier of English football and they haven’t got the resources to get better of the league table toppers, but, funny things have happened in the ongoing season. So, Arsenal must be careful.

Arsenal’s last FA Cup glory had come in 2005 when they had beaten Manchester United in the final.

As far as Wenger is concerned, he has won the FA Cup quite a few times in the past, 4 times to be precise. But, the reason why he has been so desperate this time is that he hasn’t guided Arsenal to a major title in the last 8 and half years. He has guided them to some fantastic wins, but, not titles. Now, he wants that drought to end somehow.

Talking to the reporters about FA Cup yesterday, the Frenchman said, “I am fortunate to have won this trophy on four occasions, but, that happened long back. We haven’t won in the recent past and I don’t want this season to go that way too. I want to win this time around.”

When asked if he has already begun to think about the final match as his team is expected to get there, Wenger said, “No, not at this point of time. You start thinking about that when you manage to get into the final 8.”
The match between Arsenal and Coventry City will be played at the Emirates Stadium.
