Arsenal fans call Arsene Wenger liar over Fabregas transfer to Chelsea

Arsenal fans have called for the club to sack manager Arsene Wenger following the transfer of Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona to London rivals Chelsea.

The Spanish international midfielder joined the West London side for a reported fee of around £ 30 million following three years at Barcelona where he failed to establish himself as a regular in the first team. And although Arsenal had the first option on the player, a clause inserted on the contract while selling him to the Catalan giants in 2011, Wenger chose not to take up the option of resigning him citing a congested midfield.

Arsenal already have the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini, Santiago Cazorla as well as the club record signing Mesut Ozil as central midfield options and according to Wenger, he didn’t need another creative midfielder and would rather buy a centre back, right full back and a striker.

But despite this, fans have called for the head of Arsene Wenger for allowing one of their legends to link up with a direct rival for the Premier League. Some fans even went as far as calling the Frenchman a lira referring to how he had said that he would love to see the player to return to the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger recently led Arsenal to their first trophy in nine years when they secured the FA Cup last month against Hull City but fans are still clamoring for the head of one of the greatest managers in the history of the Premier League.

Arsene Wenger has been scouting a right back to replace the departing Bacary Sagna who will join Manchester City and has targeted Southampton youngster Calum Chambers as well as a striker to play the role of second striker to French international striker Olivier Giroud.
